Public Transportation
INIHKD Conference Transportation Logistics
Travel between the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and downtown Seattle is easy via public transportation. There are several public transportation options between the airport and downtown, ranging from the new Sound Transit: Link Light Rail service that travels from the airport to five stops downtown, to door to door shuttles and taxi cabs. Most forms of public transportation go through downtown. You also have to go downtown to catch the Bainbridge Island ferry, en route to the INIHKD conference.
Ticket information and where to catch public transportation at the airport is outlined below.
More information can be found on the transportation Web sites linked under each item.
At the airport
After you collect your luggage, take the escalators up one level to the Parking Garage Skybridge, where you will find directions to the Sound Transit Link Light Rail, SuperShuttle, and taxi cabs.
The Seattle Downtown Airporter is reached from the terminal at door 00 (zero zero).
A map of where to catch ground transportation at the airport is available at http://www.portseattle.org/about/maps/ground.shtml.
Sound Transit Link Light Rail
Price and schedule: Tickets cost $2.50 one-way. Trains run every 7- to 10-minutes and run from 5:20 a.m. to 12:10 a.m. (except Sundays, when service hours are 6:20 a.m. to 11:05 p.m.). The trip takes 37 minutes to Westlake Station in downtown Seattle.
Finding the train: After claiming your luggage, take the escalators up one level to the Parking Garage Skybridge. At the parking garage, follow signs to “Sound Transit Link Light Rail” to the left. Purchase your $2.50 magnetic ticket (higher value tickets can be used on future rides on buses, light rail and the ferry system) and tap on the card reader before boarding the train. Since the airport is the terminus, all trains go to Seattle.
Finding your hotel: In downtown Seattle, the train makes five stops in the Metro transit tunnel. Almost all downtown hotels will be within three or four blocks from University Station or Westlake Station. Ask the hotel or consult a map to find out which station is closest to your hotel. When you exit the train, be sure to tap the magnetic card reader again.
