In 2011, The Native Youth Enrichment Program offered three Digital Storytelling workshops. The first two were a collaboration with the Center for Digital Storytelling to create stories telling two distinctly different stories, while the third set of stories was created during a 4-week summer program which exposed our students to a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields. During the first program, the students explored their identity as Native Americans and indigenous people, living in a modern world. The second project was called The Lessons of Indigenous Foods and the Environment [LIFE] Project which examined how the loss of traditional foods has negatively impacted local ecology, human health, and the steps to take in order to reclaim our culture and traditions. The third set of stories was the culmination of three weeks of "Story Research", which was conducted by seven student research groups who selected a research topic focused on the interconnectedness of Human Activity, Environmental Health, and Public Health.
